Base fabrics for cross sew are evenly woven and cross sew needles (also called tapestry needles) have larger sized eyes and therefore are blunter than regular sewing needles. You employ exactly the same variety of threads and floss as you need to do in normal hand embroidery. Inspiration alert! L
